It's My Party....Part 2

Well, the rain threatened to shut down our party and good spirits, but the kids were unflappable! They found Jack's dress up box and toy room upstairs and had a blast. You may notice that Jack ditched his special T-Rex shirt in favor of his other love, his Spiderman costume. The paleo-educator came and gave the kids a lesson on how dinosaurs get their names. For a group of mostly 3-5 year olds, I was truly impressed with her ability to keep their rapt attention...but I guess she did have dinosaur bones and teeth and spikes! Oh my! Who wouldn't enjoy that?

The rain finally cleared and thanks to Grammie and Nanie for wiping out the bounce house(which was actually overflowing with bubbles from the cleaner that the company sprays inside before renting it)so the kids got a chance to jump afterall! Papa manned the T. Rex pinata and the kids took turns knocking his block off with a plastic bat. I even gave it a try, but unfortunately, broke the bat. The only thing we didn't get to do because of the weather delay was the dino dig, but no one seemed to be disappointed!

After the pterodactyl tenders, herbivore delight and dino cake were cleared, it was time to hand out our thank you gift bags and say goodbye. Can't wait for next year's adventure when Dino-Spidey turns 5!

It's My Party and I'll ROAR if I want to! (part 1)

The theme of Jack's 4th birthday party this year was DINOSAURS! Strange, isn't it?! Just kidding. Anyone who knows Jack knows dinosaurs of all shapes, sizes and prehistoric periods are near and dear to his heart. Here are some of the details. Dinosaur cake, goodie bags complete with custom dinosaur cookies, a jurassic bounce house(more on this later), dinosaurs in the flower box and LOOK! it seems dinosaurs ran all over our backyard before party leaving some giant dinorific footprints behind! Not even a little rain(or alot and a minor meltdown by mommy) could ruin our day!

Robin Hood at the Renaissance Festival

This year was Jack's first experience with the Renaissance Festival. Grammie and Papa took us as a special birthday treat for Jack. He had so much fun bungee jumping(well, sort of) and throwing tomatoes at the heckling tomato man(he landed more tomatoes than the adults and was a better heckler too). After going to the petting zoo, climbing a trick ladder and eating a roasted turkey leg, it was time to take our little Robin Hood home. Thanks Grammie and Papa for such a wonderful day!

Animal Attraction

The Phoenix Zoo is one of our favorite places, especially when the weather is 70 degrees and breezy. The animals seem to appreciate the weather too because they were out and ready to play. Jack rode the carousel, had a couple camel rides and even got to pose for a picture with a female baboon who seems to adore children(she always comes to the glass and sits by Jack when we visit). Check out the grins on Jack's face...enough said.

Cowboy Boots for the Cowboy Kid

Jack's birthday wish this year was to have his very own pair of "real" cowboy boots from Saba's Western Wear. In January, we went and picked them out and decided what size he would need. He was positively giddy with anticipation and couldn't wait to get them for his birthday. On February 12, 2010 at 6:30 am, Jack got his wish! We woke our little cowboy up to give him a special gift. He was overjoyed! You see, Jack has always had an infatuation with boots starting before he was 2. He wore my "highstyle" boots until he got a pair of his own. Bittersweet for mom(the highstyle are now retired), but an exciting new phase for our little man.

Lollipop Lollipop!

For Jack's birthday this year, I made these really fun lollipop cupcakes for his preschool class. The kids loved them and I had a blast making them!
